Rinae has seen many changes in his community since he has been part of SCORE. “I play because I want to teach others to play” he says. One player he never expected to see grow is his mother.

Why are you always at the sports field?” My mother used to ask. So one day I said to her, “come with me.” After she saw me play she said, “Boy, I want you to help me exercise.” She then started playing with the other grannies in the community.

Do they do these for women?” she asked, looking at my boots after I had come back from playing football. When she returned from town she showed me her new football boots for women. I thought to myself, “Wow, my mum is really playing soccer!” Not only does she now play, but she is the captain of the team. I hope that one day she becomes the best. Now other older people are playing, and staying physically and mentally fit through sport.

You are bright and can do something for your community” This was the first time I was involved with SCORE. When Nkosana (Limpopo Coordinator) approached me whilst I was on the street. SCORE have now changed my life and the life of my mother. It was like we were in the dark. We did not know how to play or how to make a change in our community. Then we started training and joined the Cup of Heroes team. Suddenly family, friends and teachers were helping us in every way they could, because they knew that we were doing it for the community.
