An Introduction to SCORE's Implementation Framework

SCORE has three Programmes which form the development framework through which the organisation achieves its objectives. Individual projects fall within one or more of the programmes, whilst communities find themselves at different stages of the development continuum for each programme.


Cup of Heroes
This event is an international platform for communities in which SCORE is or has been active to showcase and measure their achievements in sport and community development.

VIP- Volunteer Involvement Programme
The Volunteer Improvement Programme is a database and recognition system for community sports leaders and invests in local volunteers to empower communities.

Living Sport
Living Sport programme is a development curriculum for individuals and community structures. This curriculum provides progressive training opportunties enabling individuals climb the "Leadership Ladder" and so doing empower their community to develop along a path of increasing opportunity through sport and recreation.

Special Projects

South Africa: 2010 Fifa World Cup
SCORE has has four main projects linked to the expected opportunities provided by the 2010 Fifa World Cup. These projects aim to bring the excitement of the world cup to the rural communities in which SCORE operates as well as ensure that the SCORE communities benefit from the legacy of the World Cup.  These projects will be officially launched shortly so watch this space.


Zambia: Kwenuha Project
This project focuses on the rehabilitation of sex offenders in Zambia.


Namibia: Netball Safari
The Netball Safari is an initiative by the International Federation of Netball Associations (IFNA), SCORE Namibia and the Namibia School Sport Union. The project in Namibia was attended by more than 1000 participants from all 13 regions who benefitted from the tutorship of former England coach Liz Broomhead.


All Countries: Norway Cup
As per agreement with the NIF, the selected SCORE community teams usually stay in a host community for one week where they engage in cultural exchange activities. The second week is the tournament where over 4000 teams participate in age groups ranging from 7 – 18 years. Namibia has been able to send 4 football teams (3 boys and 1 girl) to the annual Norway Cup held in Oslo, this year a U/14 girls team from the community of Windhoek traveled to Norway with previous teams being boys teams from Oshivelo 2005, Khorixas 2006, Swakopmund 2007.


UK Sport and Comic Relief
SCORE is one of the 10 projects selected to be part of the research project on the impact of Sport as a Development Tool.
