An Introduction to SCORE's Implementation Framework
SCORE has three Programmes which form the development framework through which the organisation achieves its objectives. Individual projects fall within one or more of the programmes, whilst communities find themselves at different stages of the development continuum for each programme.
Cup of Heroes
The Cup of Heroes is the culmination of a process of sports skills, life skills and leadership skills training and capacity building in schools and local communities. This competition is aimed at enabling teams to ‘score’ points on and off the field. This includes a sports component, cultural component and community service through which each participating team score points to progress from the regional competition to the international competition.

Volunteer Involvement Programme (VIP)
SCORE’s Volunteer Involvement Program, which recognises sports volunteers as ‘Very Important Persons’ once they achieve a certain level of competence within SCORE’s leadership ladder. These VIPs are then entered into a database that tracks their qualifications through training courses attended, their skills and their activities. VIPs become a very important resource, available to volunteer at major events and able to support other sport development initiatives in grassroots communities.
Living Sport
LivingSport is SCORE’s long-term, comprehensive sport & community development program; this program focuses on increasing sports participation; increasing capacity in sport, leadership and life skills; supporting and developing sustainable sports organising structures; and creating networks of support for community sports structures and activities through links with other sport and non-sport structures. The training pathway SCORE uses, is called the SCORE Leadership Ladder. Kicking AIDS Out training is part of this Leadership Ladder; peer leaders are trained in Kicking AIDS Out methods and to be peer leaders, Leader Level 1, etc. once they reach a specific competency level within the ladder. The higher levels of the Leadership Ladder focus more on process facilitation training and training aimed at leaders who are part of sports organising structures.
