Supporting SCORE
Since its inception in 1991, SCORE has been reliant on donor funding and has been able to sustain its operations and programmes through support from a range of donor partners in the form of government departments, international development agencies and corporates, as well as private individuals and family trusts.
SCORE's programatic approach to the field of Sports for Development provides a sustainabe framework within which funded projects can be implemented. The autonomous national offices in Namibia, South African and Zambia are responsible for sourcing and manageing their own donor projects with support from the SCORE International Office in Cape Town.
SCORE has a number of income generating initiatives aimed at using the organisations expertise and infrastructure to cover operational and administrative overheads. These include: consulting services, community development training, volunteer training and support, short-term volunteer experiences and corporate community involvement projects.
Fundraising Projects
Iron Brian
SCORE is teaming up with the MD of adidas South Africa, Brian Kerby, to raise funds for the construction of a multi-purpose sports facility in a SCORE community. Brian is using his participation in the IRONMAN South Africa triathlon to raise funds by getting family, friends and supporters to fund a specified distance of the swimming, cycling and running legs of his race! The construction of this facility will be the prize for the community that wins the 2010 Cup of Heroes.
