I wish to thank SCORE once again for affording me the opportunity to be a part of such a rewarding, yet challenging event. My goal this year was to ensure what I brought of myself to this event was that it will make a difference to the kids’ lives, to embrace what they have and no matter their circumstances that if they want to see the change around them, they need to be that change and to never lose focus or sight of their dreams.
My experience at the Cup of Heroes 2014 was amazing and although it was my 3rd time attending, the smiles, gratitude and appreciation of the kids towards the menial of things you do for them, was just at times so overwhelming!! Having been an ambassador to one of the communities, Schoemansdal, just made it even more special than my previous 2 years: being a part of their fears surrounding the event, running around with them when they forgot certain things. But the most important aspect of this event to me was to talk and listen to them and letting them know that even if they didn’t win that it was ok and that they need to concentrate on the areas where they need more ‘practise’ and to come back next year stronger than ever!!! And lastly the laughter, the hugs and the tears……….Things I WILL definitely go back for every time!!
Thank you once again SCORE, this was my best ever Cup of Heroes!!! And I’m saying that again and again :-)
